I started my blog only just under a year ago (10 months to be exact) and now I can’t get enough of it, I love it. Every day is a new adventure, every post is a new way for me to get the chance to reach out to more and more people. Sure, my blog isn’t up there in the top 10, let alone the top 10,000 in Australia but I don’t mind, that’s not what this is about after all. Blogging is about meeting new people, sharing your honest opinions and spreading creativity & love.
It’s no secret that I am in love with photography & have been since I first started studying it. I discovered at the beginning of high school. Photography is a way to express your emotions, test your limits and explore new areas of creativity that you’ve never seen in yourself before.
Ask anyone and they’ll give you the same answer – you can’t blog without photos. Being brutally honest, nothing turns me off a blog more than when there are no images, nothing to go along with the writing. I don’t care how great the content is, if there is not at least one single image on that page, I’m likely to exit and find another blog to read.
Now, not everyone is a professional photographer & owns an expensive DSLR camera but that doesn’t matter. Some of the greatest photographers in the world can pick up any smartphone, tablet or compact camera and create a beautiful image. A great photo comes from you and you only – your imagination has no boundaries and photography certainly has no rules.
Who doesn’t love making new friends right? Well, if you’re anything like me, you will love making new friends but can never find the time (or have the courage.. thanks anxiety) to go out and meet new people face to face. Blogging (of any kind) is a great way to connect with other bloggers and meet new people, hopefully landing yourself some great new friends!
I have honestly met so many amazing people through blogging and although we may not have met face to face yet, it’s 100% in the plans to have a big group meet up and finally get to know one another (and most likely spend a lot of money & eat a lot of food.. duh)
Being interactive with other bloggers is extremely beneficial, not just for your social life but also for your blog – you bounce ideas off each other for photos/content, collaborate with each other on blog posts and even give cold, hard honest criticism (where needed obviously).
A lot of my collaborations with brands so far have been through my Instagram. Did you know that Instagram is now actually one of the leading social media outlets for brands to advertise & collaborate with influencers?! If you had of asked me 12 months ago if I would have worked with so many brands in such a short amount of time, I would have told you you were crazy.
Sure, these aren’t the only positives to beauty blogging but they’re definitely a few of the best reasons. Well a few of the best reasons in my opinion. What is your favourite thing about blogging?
