Are you sick of people asking you how “your little business” is going?

Are you fed up with the patronising, sometimes really hurtful comments from friends, family or just the general public?

Running a business isn’t all sunshine & rainbows, but you know that already, don’t you?

You understand that not everyone “gets” what you do, but you’re sick of it.

You love your business; You don’t see it as a “hobby” or a “passion project”, it’s your greatest love – it’s what you want to be doing for the rest of your life.

And all you want is for everyone else to understand that.

All you want is for people to start respecting your business & see you as a leader, as a smart businesswomen who knows her sh*t, right?!

But the truth is…

That may never happen.

I know, I know… It hurts to hear that. Like, really hurts.

But unfortunately (& fortunately at the same time), not everyone was born with an entrepreneurial brain like you.

Not everyone thinks bigger picture or understand what it’s like to expand the limits, crave growth & total freedom.

Some people are happy living their mediocre lives, doing the same thing day in day out, living in this bubble of safety. They’re comfortable there.

So, how can you help to alleviate this all-consuming frustration that comes up any time someone downplays your career or just doesn’t understand your business?

I’ve got a few tricks up my sleeve…

Build up resilience

Like I’ve said, some people will just never change. And a huge part of being an entrepreneur is being able to overcome & to accept that.

Sure, it’s not the easiest thing in the world to do when you’re first getting started. But, over time it’ll get easier, trust me.

The sooner you can accept you will never have everyone’s support for your business, the sooner you’ll be free to do whatever you want, whenever you want, however you want!

Now that’s my kinda freedom!!

Remember your why

Tell me this… Did you start a business to fret over what other people thought?

Did you spend all those hours, all that money & use up all that energy just to be let down when other’s didn’t understand what you do?

I’ll be seriously concerned if you answered yes to either of those by the way.

You started your business for freedom. You started your business to put your children through the best schooling possible. You started your business for reasons you can’t explain in less than 10 hours of straight up rambling.

So before you go getting down in the dumps when someone insults your “hobby” or downplays your “little business”, go back to your why.

Remember your why. Embrace your why. Focus on your why.

Because that is all that matters.

Surround yourself with high vibe people

I seriously cannot stress this point enough. Like, ever, enough.

When you’re a business owner, especially if you’re currently side-hustling, staying positive is SO important. Read more on that here.

However, it goes without saying that trying to stay positive all on your own, can be pretty darn testing. So, what’s the easiest way to combat that?

Surround yourself with a bunch of high vibe, incredible people who get you!

In fact, they say that you are the sum of the top 5 people you spend time with.

And, when you’re spending time with people who don’t understand your business (nor care to!), what are you doing? Putting yourself in a low vibe state & making it harder to be happy!

Ps. If you’re a side-hustler (or new to full-time biz) & are in need of a bunch of incredibly beautiful, supportive & empowering ladies by your side – come check out & join my membership, The Becoming Boss Society! It’s basically a whole heap of passionate ladies getting their networking on, whilst learning the strategies they need to grow their side-hustles to full-time businesses from yours truly!

See the light hearted side of it

And, last but not least, you can always have a giggle & see the light hearted side of it.

I’m talking about when people say “how’s your hobby going?” & you say to yourself “yeah great! It’s so nice being able to make over $10k each month from a hobby!” 😂

And I’m not saying that this needs to be done through hate, but instead done through love.

Sure, the other people isn’t going to hear you having a joke with them, but it can be great for lifting your spirits when you’re in those sometimes frustrating moments where all you want to do is rip eyeballs out.

Also – trust me when I say that this method works. Still to this day, in early 2019 after hitting HUGE milestones in my business, I still have people that I have to make jokes with (without their knowing).

Plus, it makes the journey a lot more fun too!

So, that’s it for this post my beautiful friend. I hope that today you’ve learnt a new lesson or adapted a new style of going about your business!
