The Episode Breakdown:
Hello my loves, I cannot wait to dive into today’s episode because if you haven’t already read the title, I’m going to be sharing with you how I structured my weeks to earn six figures and work 20-hours or less! But before we jump in there is one thing I really want to mention.
I BELIEVE THAT ANYONE IN ONLINE BUSINESS CAN WORK 20-HOURS OR LESS IF THEY TRULY WANT TO.
However, if you want to work 20 or 40 hours a week, that’s totally fine! Although this is probably not the podcast episode for you.
For me, I’ve been there and I’ve done that. I got to the point where I thought why am I working all of these hours when I literally became my own boss and I quit my day job so that I could have time freedom? I’m not always working on my business now which is something that I really used to struggle with. I would literally be in the middle of a conversation with my partner and I would be checking my phone and replying to client messages. That’s so bad for relationships! There became this pattern of me consistently working, working, working and I thought why am I doing this? You are full-time in this business not to work full-time hours. Your full-time in this business to work the hours that work for you.
Let’s jump right in and I’ll share with you how I structure each day of my week by theme.
So hello, Monday! Or as I like to call it, Mindset Monday. I used to hate Mondays at my day job. Sunday night would roll around and I’d start dreading Monday morning thinking, I don’t want to go to work tomorrow (major bummer). Ever since I’ve been in business, I now love Mondays!
I love that fresh new energy. I love setting goals for the week. I love setting my intentions. I love pulling a card for the week. I love checking in with my clients for the week and setting intentions with them. But I really love spending Mondays working on me.
On Mindset Mondays, I really focus on tapping back into my vision for both my business and life. That means looking at my relationship, looking at my family relationships, looking at my health, my self-care, thinking about the wedding, my house renovations, looking at my money and how much money I need to put aside and all those sorts of things. I’ll spend time thinking about my vision for my life and my intentions for my life.
Business-wise, I look at how everything is with my clients. How is everything going with the programs I’m running? How is everything working with my money? I check my money every single day but Monday is where I REALLY look at my money. I go through my bank transactions and my financial tracking spreadsheets to make sure that I have a really clear understanding of where I’m at.
It’s about setting myself up for the week and making sure that everything that’s on my calendar or on my to-do list for that week is actually leading me towards my vision. Filling your calendar with fluff is one surefire way to work more than 20-hours a week and probably not end up earning six figures or if you do earn six figures you’re probably going to be super burnt out, super tired and probably get sick all of the time.
Let’s move onto Tuesday which is my meetings and business growth day. Tuesday consists of podcast recordings and interviews, any interviews I’m doing for blogs or magazine articles and team meetings. In terms of business growth, that’s very much about launch planning. So thinking about a new program coming up. What do I need to prepare for it? What content do I need to put aside?
Wednesdays and Thursdays, I work with my private 1:1 clients & mastermind clients on their coaching calls. This is done on a bi-weekly basis so they have a week in between to implement. If it’s a week where I have client calls, I always make sure to fully book my calendar with my client calls and that is all I’ll do. These two days are mainly dedicated to communicating with my clients and making sure they are feeling supported and on the right track!
And now we’ve come to the day of the week that is all about checking in with myself and doing activities that make me feel good. Welcome to Feel Good Friday! On this day, you’ll find me catching up with friends, being in the garden, sleeping-in, playing video games and possibly washing my hair, ha!
Friday’s for me is really just a day at the end of the week to relax, rejuvenate and to reset ready for the next week because, on Saturdays and Sundays, I really do dedicate that time to being present in my relationship, renovating our home and just having quality time with family. So for me, I need time for myself as well and I think Friday is that day. I don’t work on Fridays… but in saying that, I check in with my clients every single day regardless if I’m working that day or not. I love what I do and being my client’s number one cheerleader soooo to me it’s not technically working anyway.
IT’S RECAP TIME!
- Monday = Mindset Monday
- Tuesday = Meetings and business growth
- Wednesday and Thursday = Client calls and dedicating all my focus, energy and time to my clients. Or it’s content creation day
- Fridays = Feel Good Friday which is just pure fun, freedom, flow and excitement. It’s all about Elley’s time
- Weekends = Work free zone
THREE THINGS I DO EVERY SINGLE DAY THAT ARE ABSOLUTELY NON-NEGOTIABLE
These three things help me to be in this high vibe and flowy kind of energy that keeps me in a good state all week, Monday through Sunday. These are the things that I always make sure I do during the week to allow myself to have that freedom.
Number 1 is mindset work. I do mindset work EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. If my energy isn’t right, if I don’t feel motivated, if I’m tired or if I feel a bit sick then my day will be off. Mindset work is about setting yourself up for success.
Number 2 is client check-in. My clients have unlimited access to me and they can ask me any question and always have it answered within 24-hours or less. I’m there to support them to answer their questions, to share behind the scenes of my own business, to motivate them and hold them accountable. So that happens every day without fail regardless if it’s a day off or not.
Number 3 is inbox zero. Now if you’re someone that has a lot of emails in your inbox right now, you’re probably thinking how the hell do you manage inbox zero? For me, I can’t handle having emails sitting in my inbox. I don’t like it. I have filters set up and autoresponders. I like to have my inbox cleared up because I think a cluttered life equals a cluttered mind.
The other thing that you really need to have if you want to work less, is you need to have boundaries. I’ve talked about boundaries a bit more in-depth in episode 032 all about how to create healthy boundaries. So after this episode is finished, definitely go give that a listen!
Boundaries are something that you need to have if you want to work less. For example, I have autoresponders set up in my email inbox that helps to eliminate how much time I spend in my inbox replying to people. I turn off ALL of my notifications so that I’m not distracted during the day or wasting time on non-essential things. I choose what days and times I work that suits me. I limit the amount of content that I take in daily from scrolling through Instagram, watching other people’s stories and reading a million different newsletters.
To get to the point where you’re able to earn six figures and work 20-hours or less a week, you have to be really intentional about where you spend your time and who you spend your time with.
Make sure that what and who you’re spending your time on and with is supporting you in growing, in scaling and moving your business forward and in being the best version of you that you can possibly be. Spend your time with people that are going to lift you up. Spend your time doing the tasks that are going to motivate you, inspire you and make you feel really freaking good. That is what’s going to set you up for success so focus on the tasks that you need to do. Focus on the tasks that you love to do and outsource anything that doesn’t need to be done by you. It’s about making that decision, removing any feelings of guilt and putting those boundaries in place to be intentional about your time.
Make sure to get your hands on my freebie, The Daily To-Do List of a Female CEO! It gives you a breakdown of all the things that I do in my business every single day, no matter what day of the week it is.
Love you all and I hope that you love this podcast episode! I am so excited that I finally got this out there.
