Bad days in business happen – we can’t just pretend that they don’t! It’s something that everyone experiences, but not enough people talk about.
So instead of acting like we’re going to be high-vibe in business 24/7, I’m going to share with you how to accept a bad day, as well as 5 simple steps to turn yourself around and get back to being the high-vibe person that you are! Stick around to the end and I’ll also share with you my own personal favourite rituals that help me get my vibe back.

Having bad days is something we all deal with, but not enough people talk about – and if they do, it’s about staying high-vibe 24/7 or how to never have a bad day in business. But in reality, that’s just not possible!
Today, we’re talking about handling bad days in business and how to get yourself back to feeling high-vibe using simple, easy action steps.
Let’s start with the mindset. You can have the best strategy in the world but if you don’t have the right mindset to back it up, then that strategy means nothing.
To start, we need to address something – Everyone has bad days.
I have bad days. My clients have bad days. My mentors have bad days. You have bad days.
Thinking that you’re never going to have a bad day in business (or in general!) is honestly ridiculous. We’re all human, we all have emotions, we are complex beings. Of course we’re going to have bad days from time to time.
Think about it. You are running a business. Think of everything that goes into running a business – you’re doing all of those things and more! Not only that, maybe you’re also a partner, maybe you’re a parent or guardian, and doing everything involved with those roles as well.
But let’s not forget that you’re also a HUMAN. On top of everything else, you’re also a human and that includes taking care of yourself.
My point is that there are so many things going on for all of us in everyday life, so of course you’re going to have down days. You’re a human being and you’ve got a lot going on, so give yourself a break.
The worst thing you can do when you’re feeling like sh*t, is to make yourself feel like sh*t for feeling like sh*t.
That doesn’t fix the problem, it makes it worse.
When you do this, you’re kicking yourself when you’re down. It is so backwards and counterproductive, so don’t do it!
It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that everyone else has their sh*t together 24/7 and is always achieving, always hitting goals, always living their best life and always happy and high-vibe. But the reality is that’s not always the case.
No one can be happy and high-vibe all the time. Even just thinking that you should be is a surefire way to set yourself up for failure. You’ll be setting the bar so high for yourself that anytime you feel any kind of negative emotion, you’ll come down hard on yourself and be putting extra unnecessary pressure on yourself.
Let’s talk about what you need to do instead.
Number 1. Understand that you are human.
You don’t need to be perfect 24/7. You have permission to make mistakes. You have permission to have bad days. Take that permission and take the pressure off. Understand that you are human, and you are doing your best.
Number 2. Know that it’s okay to have bad days.
Everyone does. I do, you do, our friends, families, clients, colleagues do – everyone has bad days. You aren’t weird. You aren’t different. You aren’t alone.
Sometimes the greatest thing you can do is just reach out to someone to talk about the last time they had a bad day. Sometimes just hearing from other people that they also have bad days is so calming.
Don’t allow your bad days to mean anything about you or your worth. So many people make their bad day mean that they’re not good enough, and that’s just not the truth.
Number 3. Allow yourself to feel the emotions when they come up.
You can’t ignore negative emotions or sweep them under the carpet. You have to allow yourself to feel the emotion to heal the emotion – to release it, let go of it, shift it and move on from it.
Allow yourself to feel the emotions for as long as you need to. It could be five seconds, five minutes, an hour, a day or a week. You will intuitively know when you are done with that emotion.
Number 4. Choose the new emotion you want to feel.
Once you’ve allowed yourself to feel those negative emotions, decide what emotion you want to feel now. What energy do you want to shift into and fully embody now? The best way to choose the new emotion that you want to embody is often to choose the exact opposite of the negative emotion that you’re feeling.
Number 5. Take action to embody that feeling.
Now that you’ve chosen the new emotion you want to feel, start taking action to embody that emotion as best you can in the present moment. Once you’ve done the mindset work, taking action immediately is so important in order to shift the negative emotion and fully lock in that new emotion that you’re wanting to embody.
What are my favourite rituals?
This is a question I get a lot from my clients, so I want to give you a list of a few of my favourite things that I like to do that nearly always help to shift a negative emotion and get me into that high-vibe state.
Remember – everyone has their own way of shifting emotions, and their own way of getting high-vibe and feeling good. These are just my examples of what works for me most of the time, so take what you need and leave the rest.
- Listening to music
- Bubble baths
- Naps or early nights – This is a great way to reset, since it switches off your conscious brain, which is the one overthinking everything!
- Being in nature
- Having a good cry – Emotions are stored in the body and are released with a really good cry. Everyone loves a good cry, don’t fight me on that!
- Cooking a homemade meal or baking
- Watching Ratatouille, my FAVOURITE movie
- Meditation and breathwork
- Tidying the house
- EFT tapping
It’s really about just following your intuition and finding what feels good in that moment, whether you’re anxious, stressed or just having a bad day and you don’t know why. It’s about just checking in and asking yourself what you feel like doing to shift it. You will intuitively know what you want to do, so follow that.
The key thing that I want you to take away is that it’s okay to have bad days. It’s okay to not be high-vibe all the freaking time.
You are human, you’re going to make mistakes, you’re going to have moments of self-doubt, you’re going to overthink things, you’re going to feel really sh*tty sometimes and that’s okay. In fact, that’s actually a really big part of business and being an entrepreneur.
If you’re consistent in doing the mindset work, being your authentic self, doing what feels aligned and consistently showing up for your audience, even if that means taking a break sometimes – then that is enough.
You are enough. What you are doing is enough.
Be proud of yourself for creating a business in the first place. Be proud that you’re still standing and be proud that you are resilient enough to not let these things stop you or make you give up.
The only time you fail is when you give up. Be proud that you are resilient enough to keep getting back up. Be proud of yourself for doing the best that you can – day in, day out.
