The Episode Breakdown:
I’m so excited because today we’re talking about one of my favourite things in the world – and no, it’s not cute dogs or gardening or food – it’s Instagram Stories.
Today we’re talking about how to create Instagram Stories that make people fall in love with you and want to buy from you. We’re talking about attracting soulmate dream clients who are so in love with watching your stories and getting to know you and who actually want to buy from you.
The first step to having people want to buy from you from Instagram Stories is for them to feel like they know you. They need to feel like they know the person on the other side of the screen.
That doesn’t mean that they have to be following you for ages before they buy from you or invest in working with you. It can happen quickly, it doesn’t have to take ages.
That said, if you’re only showing up when you’re sharing a new post from your feed or launching something but you aren’t showing up in between, then the chances of people feeling compelled to want to buy from you are a lot lower than if you show up consistently and create the types of content that we’re going to talk about today.
When you show up consistently and create content that magnetises people and makes them excited to be in your energy, THAT is when your chances of having people invest in you are much higher.
Today, I’m going to take you through 5 different types of content that you can share on Instagram Stories to make people fall in love with you and want to buy from you. They’re all centred around allowing people to get to know you – that’s the basis of it all. It’s the ‘know, like, trust’ factor – when people feel like they know you, the more likely they are to like and trust you, so of course they’re going to want to buy from you.
1. Share snippets of your life
Share little snippets and little moments of your life. Allow people to get to know you.
Your life might feel boring to you (I know my life sometimes feels really boring to me!) but other people want to see your life. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had people tell me how much they love seeing me in the garden or playing with my dogs and sharing that.
You don’t have to share every single thing that you do in your life, but share those everyday snippets. Share your morning tea or coffee, if you slept in, that you’re in bed watching a movie, that you’re playing with your kids or your dog, that you’re working from a café, that you’re reading a book, that it’s your anniversary.
You can also share throwbacks of your life. Go back through your journey and share throwback photos or posts and compare them to now. I promise you that even just by implementing that, you will become a lot more consistent in your Instagram Stories. You’ll be more visible and you’ll attract more people that feel like they know you, want to be in your energy and want to buy from you.
Everything in our lives is content. Bring some awareness to the everyday things you do in your life and start sharing them.
2. Share you doing the thing
Share you being your own best client.
Here’s what I mean. You need to share that *you’re* doing the mindset work, *you’re* prioritising your happiness and *you* are investing in yourself. You need to share that you are getting support with your business, your life – whatever you help your clients with.
Don’t just talk the talk – walk the walk. You want your clients to see that you’re doing the work too. And when you’re doing that, one of the best things you can do is to share it on Instagram Stories.
When you share that on Instagram Stories, it’s living proof for people who are thinking of working with you that you do invest in yourself, prioritise yourself and are continuously growing.
Share that you’re on that continuous journey of growth. Share you doing the thing and being your own best client.
3. Share things to inspire them
I love sharing quotes or graphics from other people. If I’m scrolling through Instagram and I see a quote or graphic that I love, I’ll share it straight to my Instagram Stories.
I love sharing those things because I’m sharing things that align with my beliefs and what I teach my clients.
I also love to inspire people by sharing my own posts on my Instagram Stories. I know that not everyone sees my posts in their feed, so it helps with increasing the amount of people that see my posts. Not only that – I love my posts. Everyone should love their own content, because if you don’t love your content, you can’t expect other people to. I love my content, so of course I want more people to read my posts because they’re so freaking good.
You could also do riffs on things you’re passionate about. Let’s say you have a conversation with someone that gets you energised, or you’ve recorded a podcast episode and you’re so inspired to go on stories and share it with people – get on Instagram Stories and riff.
Anything that inspires or motivates your audience – share it on Instagram Stories.
4. Share a valuable tip, trick or tutorial
A.k.a. Educate them.
Now, there’s a reason why I didn’t put this one first. So many people think that the only thing you can do on Instagram Stories is sell and that the only way you can sell on Instagram Stories is if you teach people something first.
Educating and giving value and teaching them something is just *one* way you can sell on Instagram stories, but it’s not the most important. Giving value and sharing education is important, but there’s a time and a place for it.
The thing is, your empowered clients who are ready to work with you probably don’t want to learn 20 different tips on Instagram stories. You don’t need to do that in order to give value.
So many different types of content can give value – inspiring people, sharing other people’s posts, sharing snippets of your life. I see everything I share as value. Make that a belief.
In terms of sharing value through educating, teach your audience something new. Keep it simple and don’t overwhelm them. Teach them one thing that’s so powerful and so simple that they could implement it in 10-15 minutes. Give them a quick win or a perspective shift. You could post a few slides of you talking to the camera, or share some text over a background with a couple of tips to educate them.
I often find that if I’m sharing my own story, my journey or inspiring them, then I’m educating anyway. It’s all education, it’s all value, it’s all helpful, and it’s all amazing content.
5. Share your opportunities
I could record a whole podcast on just how to sell on Instagram Stories, but I just want to share a few things here.
Firstly – *ahem* – you can’t expect people to buy your offers unless you actually talk about your offers.
The title of this podcast episode is ‘Instagram Stories That Make People Love You & Want to Buy From You’, which means you’ve got to talk about how they can buy it from you.
Let me give you a few examples:
- Do a boomerang telling people how they can work with you, what programs you have running and who they’re for.
- Make some cute graphics in Canva. It has never been easier than it is right now to create cute graphics and share them on your Instagram stories!
- Create some cute graphics in Instagram Stories itself, with text over a background.
Whatever floats your boat, whatever perfectly represents you as a person, just share it. Make it easy, make it simple, but make sure that you’re actually selling on stories consistently.
Those are the 5 types of content you can share on your Instagram stories, but I’m also going to go into the most important part – my beliefs and mindset.
People who watch your stories want to get to know you. They love seeing behind the scenes of your life and your business. They love seeing those snippets of your life, they love when you educate, they love when you riff, they love when you inspire them, they love when you share tips, they love when you sell, and last but certainly not least, they actually want to buy from you.
Start showing up on your stories from those beliefs and that energy. Too many people have those limiting beliefs that if I don’t give heaps of value, it’s not worth posting or people won’t want to work with me.
Everything is value.
Let go of those beliefs now. You will not grow, you will not achieve what you want to achieve and you will not work with incredible people if you are limiting yourself by thinking those things.
When you show up from the beliefs that everyone loves watching your stories, loves getting to know you and wants to buy from you, everything changes.
If you learned a new strategy or had an “aha!” moment or perspective shift from this episode, I would love for you to share this (funnily enough) on your Instagram Stories! Tag me so I can send you some love right back and, of course, repost you on my stories. It’s more content for my stories and for your stories – a win-win situation all round!
